Dennis Van Roekel, president of the National Education Association has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the NCR chapter's Sustainable Schools Summit on October 3, 2008. This is the first Sustainable Schools Summit in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

The Sustainable Schools Summit is scheduled for 8 am to 5 pm, at the Marvin Center at George Washington University. The event will bring together teachers, administrators, parents, facility planners and elected officials to discuss best practices, success stories and available tools for greening our schools.

The Sustainable Schools Summit will cross state and county lines. We'll draw from the expertise of participants in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. The dialogue will focus on green school opportunities and advantages, costs and benefits.
