USGBC-NCR Announces Partnership with Daniel A. Payne Elementary

USGBC-NCR is excited to announce a partnership with District of Columbia Public School (DCPS) Daniel A. Payne Elementary in SE Washington. In September 2012, USGBC-NCR will begin working with Payne Elementary to make incremental changes to the school building where 250 students go to learn every day. Through its efforts in coordination with DC government, the chapter will demonstrate the benefits of sustainable practices in our learning environments.

USGBC-NCR will use the upcoming Green Apple Day of Service on September 29 as the kick-off event for Payne's improvement projects. Chapter sponsor, Ernst & Young will send thirty employees to work on the outdoor play area. Chapter members will also take part in the volunteer efforts. Hosted by the Center for Green Schools at USGBC, the Green Apple Day of Service will bring tens of thousands of volunteers across the country, to take part in local service projects that support healthy, sustainable schools.
