The National Capital Region Chapter and Maryland Chapter are pleased to present the 2013 Green School Summit: Building Environments for Better Learning at American University.

Local U.S. Green Building Council Chapters have planned this event for building professionals and K-12 school employees to share best practices related to sustainable schools. Come learn about policies at the administrative level, technical advancements at the facilities and operations level, and how to incorporate sustainability into your curriculum.

Highlights Include:

  • Opening Plenary - Climate Change and Green Schools
  • Stephen Ritz, NYC Public School Educator and Founder, Green Bronx Machine, will be featured as the keynote speaker.
  • Three track sessions:
    • School district policy
    • Educational curriculum
    • Facilities and operations

You won't want to miss this day of learning!

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR REGISTERED ATTENDEES:

    • Registration begins at 8am, with the Summit scheduled to start at 9am (see the full agenda).
    • The event is taking place at AU's Mary Graydon Center (4400 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20016). Use the campus map if you need help finding the location of the MGC. If you plan to travel by metro, the metro stop is Tenleytown/AU on the red line. The campus shuttle runs from metro every 15 minutes and we will have volunteers helping to direct you to the right building. If you plan to drive, we recommend parking in the Nebraska Avenue outdoor lot or one of the campus parking garages behind the MGC. Parking will be free during the event. See AU's website for more information on parking.
    • We will be asking attendees to carpool or take metro to the school tours. If you are comfortable volunteering as a driver you can sign-up during the morning check-in. Walking to the schools is also an option.
    • Breakfast and lunch, including vegetarian options, will be provided.
