Hosted By: USGBC National Capital Region Chapter
Location: Shenandoah Valley Arts Council, 811 Loudoun St.., Winchester, Virginia
The Shenandoah Valley Branch of the National Capital Region of the USGBC May program will feature two presentations: Tom Mawson Executive Director of the NCR chapter, will update everyone on the revisions to the LEED program for the latest LEED Version 3 which rolls out April 27, 2009. Next, Doug Horgan of BOWA Construction will provide an overview of the LEED for HOMES program. LEED for Homes is a rating system that promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes. A green home uses less energy, water and natural resources; creates less waste; and is healthier and more comfortable for the occupants. Benefits of a LEED home include lower energy and water bills; reduced greenhouse gas emissions; and less exposure to mold, mildew and other indoor toxins.
This program will include light refreshments provided by One Block West Restaurant of Winchester, Virginia. Wines will be sponsored by Grapes and Grains of Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
